We knew the final yet-to-be-announced participant on this summer’s edition of Bachelor Pad had to be somebody who was getting eliminated in the later stages of the currently airing season of The Bachelorette. But we were still a little surprised to see exactly who it ended up being.
Fourth place finisher Chris Bukowski, who was dispatched by Emily Maynard on Monday’s Bachelorette following the hometown visits, has been announced as the last Bachelor Pad contestant. He joins Tony Pieper and Kalon McMahon in moving directly from promising their everlasting love to Emily to attempting to canoodle with numerous bikini-clad show alumni at a time.
Our first thought about Chris joining the show was that he seems a little intense for Bachelor Pad. History has shown that the most important parts of those seasons have come before the cameras roll, in the forming of alliances. Chris isn’t plugged in to the Bachelor ex-cast network yet, and on The Bachelorette, he came across as stiff and humorless most of the time.
But maybe he can surprise us. Chris is still in his mid-20s, so while he seemed too immature for Emily, he might turn out to be a fun character away from the pressures of “the search for love.” Look at the man who finished fourth on The Bachelorette a season before Chris, Ames Brown. When he was courting Ashley Hebert, he seemed to be a sexless preppie, but since then, he’s been building quite a hooking-up résumé.
