BB8's Kail's Holiday Farm Resort Struck By Fire

Big Brother Season 8 contestant Kail Harbick's Holiday Farm Resort suffered fire damage early this morning, according to news reports.

The resort's main building was destroyed in the 3 a.m. fire, according to KEZI News. The guest cabins were not damaged in the fire. The main building included the resort's spa, restaurant and bar.  Kail and her husband Darin have hosted several Big Brother events in the Blue River, Oregon restaurant and bar. The Rainbow Reality Reunion for reality stars and fans was held there for three years in a row.

Firefighters say the fire was difficult to battle because of the lack of fire hydrants in the remote location. The cause of the fire has not been determined at this time.

Kail tweeted about the

fire today. “Thank u 4 all the heart-felt concerns,” she wrote. “A sad day 4 all of us McKenzians …a piece of history was lost.”

Kail competed on Season 8 of Big Brother and was among those to endure the wrath of Evel Dick. On the block three weeks in a row, Kail escaped the first two times but was evicted the third time, putting her in 10th place.

That is terrible. Hope they are able to rebuild.

The photos are horrific. http://www.kval.com/news/local/Fire-destroys-resort-building-145785805.html?tab=video&c=y Sad they could not have used water from the river.. I can’t believe that it is gone just like that after all these years. A historical landmark.. An economic source to the community, and great memories and good times for so many. I feel like I lost a best friend and feel heartbroken for Darin and Kail along with their family and employees. After a terrific high of winning the State’s High School Basketball Championship (with Daughter Taya on the team and Darin coaching) .. this is not the way to cap off a great victory. Greatest sympathies to my friends.

On a side note .. IMHO.. I do not see any reason to mention the outcome of Season 8 on Big Brother 8… Given the “real life” destruction of this historical building, affecting family, and the surrounding community… Given the way that Dick Donato trashed it and the people living there during the show (which was never resolved) including trashing SuperPass… For me.. it is insulting and disrespectful to mention his name in the same article of the people Rainbow Oregon and such a tragic loss. Saying that Kail was a former House Guest (at the beginning) was enough. Less the last paragraph.. this was a REALLY good write up. Thanks. Again.. just my opinion. Thanks.

Moosie, that’s called exposition. We can’t expect all of our readers to understand who Kail is.

I agree. Branden, I didn’t see anything at all wrong with the blurb at the end. There was nothing disrespectful nor insulting about it AT ALL.

Thank you, Deb. I’m a trained journalist and I’ve learned you can’t over-inform your readers.

Exactly. Sometimes people forget who is who, especially in the realm of the BB world, so a little exposition is always good. Great write-up.

Ha Ha.. Gotta love the timing at the misspell. It happens.. They come at the most inopportune moments :) I have Journalism training via college as well so my goal is the same.. With spell check :) I just tend to lack economy with words :( ha ha ha

I get what exposition is. I figured they would just get who she was by the opening statement of she was on Big Brother Season 8. When real stuff like this happens the rest isn’t important to many.

I was however honestly being over protective of those I know there.. and at the time of my post I was possibly very sensitive too. Still in shock. Even now. I feel for the employees and friends I have made there.. and it’s just personal.

I apologize if I came off as abrupt or personal on my previous reply. Was sharing what I knew to be true from those there. Dick’s behavior and words are a sore subject for many there and me too (his trashing friends etc) so I reacted badly. I am sorry Brandon for not taking a beat or two first.. before posting. Again sorry.
