Episode 11 Recap: On Their Own

Episode 11 Recap: On Their Own

The excuse of the week on Tuesday’s Biggest Loser was “I don’t believe in myself.” That can mean only one thing: gone are the teams and everyone’s playing as singles.

Finally. When they play as teams, it’s always so nasty and upsetting. And normally that’s all OK, because we all love dramatic TV. But this season has been so over-the-top dramatic, that it will be nice to have a couple weeks from that (before all Hell breaks loose — as we already knows happens).

Alison delivers the news to the contestants while they’re still sitting at the voting tables fresh off Cassandra’s elimination last week. They all get to keep the same trainers and there are no unexpected twists, so everyone’s happy. The only catch is that the yellow line rears its ugliness this week. That means the two people who lose the least percentage of weight fall below the line and will be up for elimination.

They immediately cut to the week’s challenge, and the game is kind of a tug of war meets White Elephant gift swap. There are nine presents and the person who gets first place gets to pick their prize last — which means they get to swap with any other player who might have scored a more valuable prize.

Jeremy comes in first place followed by Megan in second. The rest of the contestants complete the challenge in this order: Mark, Conda, Chris, Kim, Kimmy, Emily and Buddy. (Buddy automatically took ninth place because he wasn’t cleared to play the came because of an injury). So he gets to pick first.

He scores a Biggest Loser hat. Emily wins a phone for a day. Kimmy picks an autographed photo of Alison Sweeney (hahaha wow), Kim gets a deluxe box of chocolates (cruel), Chris wins a one-pound advantage, Conda gets a $1 bill so she trades Chris for the pound advantage. Mark wins an extra vote at elimination. Megan wins a goldfish so she wisely trades Conda for the one-pound advantage. Jeremy scores a a day of shopping with a celebrity. And since he loves his sister, he trades Conda for the goldfish, just so she can have the shopping spree. She gets to pick another player to go along with her. She picks Kim.

The shopping spree is with Jessica Simpson, which is just a way to plug Jessica’s new show Fashion Start, which premiered after The Biggest Loser. They show up at Jessica’s showroom and she tells the two they can leave the showroom with anything they want that day.

And I’m sure America is really happy they get to see their least favorite contestant reap such great rewards.

Let’s just cut to the weigh-in before people start throwing their computers across the room.
