Bethenny Frankel's life is an open book — and today she shared details about her recent miscarriage with fans on her Facebook page.
“This is an important story for me to share with you,” she wrote.
Fans of Bethenny Ever After know that the Skinnygirl entrepreneur had been debating a second child with her husband, Jason Hoppy. But when would she ever find the time?
When it happened, it came as a surprise, she told Glamour magazine:
Here’s what goes through your mind when you’re 41 years old and someone tells you you’re going to have a baby: Um, what? But I just had my period! Didn’t I? And aren’t I 41? It was late winter, and I had gone to the doctor because I’d been spotting. He ran some tests and came back into the room. “You’re pregnant,” he said. (He doesn’t mince words.) Jason wasn’t with me, because why would he be? When I told him later that day, his jaw dropped. I couldn’t blame him. Mine had too.
But in the seventh week of her pregnancy, she started bleeding and doctor's couldn't find the baby's heartbeat. She would later find out the baby would have been a girl. She called Jason, sobbing.
I know that Jason wants another child, but we got married when I was in my late thirties. There are a lot of things he gets by being with me—adventure, excitement, passion. But he doesn’t get the two kids. Or maybe he will. People ask me, “Are you going to have another baby?” and I get a little angry. I know my shtick is being an open book, but when you ask a woman in her forties that question, it’s not always her choice. I’m healthy and could try again. But I don’t want to be a “trying” person. If it’s meant to be, it will happen.
Bethenny's new talk show launched this week for a 6-week test run in limited markets. Best of luck to Bethenny and the Hoppy family!
