Toddlers & Tiaras

Toddlers & Tiaras premiered with much controversy in January 2009. What started as a TLC special, has since become a regular series because of its popularity and good ratings.

Currently in its fifth season, the show follows three child beauty contestants each week as they compete in various beauty pageants across thecountry. Most episodes feature different contestants each week, with the occasional recurring contestant.

Filmed in documentary format, the show follows the three child beauty queens and their families around as they prepare and practice for the pageant and as the children actually compete in the featured pageant.

The show embraces the debate over child beauty pageants and doesn’t hold back on any of the pageant stereotypes including overdone hair and makeup, revealing outfits and outrages pageant moms.

Toddlers & Tiaras doesn’t pay the families for appearing on the show, therefore popular contestants returning to new episodes are becoming more and more rare.

The show’s first official spinoff was recently announced. Here Comes Honey Boo Boo will follow one of Toddlers & Tiaras most popular contestants Alana Thompson and her outrageous family.

Alana rose to Toddlers & Tiara fame after her episode aired and included some quite quotable Alana catchphrases including “A dollar make me holler Honey Boo Boo Child.”

Although not an actual spinoff, another popular contestant, Eden Wood, has since landed her own show on Logo called Eden’s World.
